Bully
The world is repetitive.
Society competitive.
Winners means losers.
With a vengeance.
A tangled web they weave.
When they conspire to deceive.
Lingering in the cracks of globalization.
Lost amid a myriad of cultures yet cultureless.
Survival of the fittest.
The strongest survive.
You bully a weak kid just to feel alive.
You take out a knife and scare him off.
He runs to his parents, in to their arms.
You have created your strong culture, but you are still alone.
Everyone at your school hates you.
You are sad inside and want to cry but you can’t.
You have to maintain the strong culture you created.
One day you are sitting alone in a dark room.
Trapped in a chain of thoughts.
The phone rings, you answer, but no one responds.
You feel sad, but you want to convince yourself that you are great.
You go out and buy empty folders from the convenient store.
Folders that you fill with dirt on everyone you have bullied in the past.
And of everyone else who you might bully in the future.
You put all the folders in a box marked “Justifications”
That night you sleep like a baby.
The next morning you take a folder with you to school marked”Jimmy”.
You start showing everyone in school its contents,
Jimmy ‘s dirty secrets are now on everyone tongue.
When you go and bully Jimmy.
Everyone cheers and tells you to keep going..

My Heart Is Your Stone

Throughout the course of the last month, the Middle East Crisis has caused devastation and destruction to Israel, to Palestine, to Iraq, and to Lebanon. The Middle East crises in actuality has been a perpetual dilemma for all the countries mentioned above for over two decades now, that all started three years after the end of ww2 when the former was formally rectified as a state, and had waged war either directly or indirectly against the latter countries.

Recently however the western media has started to begin to witness this crisis in southern Lebanon when for the very first time a man has stood up and retaliated on behalf of Muslims in the region, for the years of devastation and destruction that Israel has caused them and their children by publicly declaring war against Israel. This man is named Hezbollah.

CNN reported two weeks ago that Hezbollah fired over 200 rockets in to Israel, and that this was the most amount of rockets ever fired in one day. Hezbollah didn’t initiate the war; he is retaliating on decades of torment. “You wanted an open war, we are ready for an open war. ’’ Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah announced in a taped statement two weeks ago.

He threatened to attack even deeper in to Israel with rockets. One week later his threat became a reality. This spawned a perilous chain of events for both Israel and Lebanon. It seems like the Arab-Israeli conflict has changed its epicenter from the Gaza Strip to southern Lebanon. Each new day the death toll increases. Why hasn’t a ceasefire taken place? Where is the Un and international community?

President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair both stopped short of supporting an immediate ceasefire in the fighting between Hezbollah and Israel. As Middle East violence continued for a 17th day, they stated at a White House news conference that the makeup of the multinational force would be discussed at a UN meeting in the near future.

We are now well in to the near future, and there has been discussion after discussion, and protest after protest worldwide, to put an end to this violence. Western media proclaims that a ceasefire should not be issued because Hezbollah must be stopped. He is a terrorist and must be stopped for the well being of the Middle East.

Under Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Canada became the first nation to follow Israel in cutting off aid to the Palestinian government led by Hamas, after Hamas was democratically chosen by Palestinians in Parliamentary elections last winter.

In fact as soon as he became PM, Harper began tilting Canadian foreign policy toward Israel, abandoning our traditional attempt of sitting on the fence in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Harper’s strong pro-Israel bias took on a dramatic new direction earlier this month with Israel’s devastating attacks in Lebanon. There were then 50,000 Canadians in harm’s way, trapped in a country that Israel was relentlessly bombing.

Canada has a reputation of moderation and fairness, so Harper’s defense of Israel helped Israel stay clear of international criticism and a growing chorus – led by the UN secretary-general and the Lebanese PM – calling for both sides to stop firing, In order to protect innocent civilians in Lebanon and Israel.

Looking at the Middle East crisis, one can realize that Israel is not attacking Hezbollah, but attacking the civilians and infrastructure of Lebanon. Israel doesn’t know where Hezbollah is, he is the biggest threat to them and they cannot do anything about it. So they fight anger with anger, and blame someone for their shortcomings, they attack innocent civilians that have nothing to do with the 200 rockets that were fired in to their land over the past 13 days just as they did and are doing to Palestinians.

Isn’t this what the most powerful country in the world did after September 11th? They didn’t know who attacked them, they felt threatened so they blamed someone, and they went to war with Iraq for weapons of mass destruction. But in reality, if you strip away the western media, you will come to realize that they are the ones using weapons of mass destruction.

An Arab is hated and discriminated and its old news, but a Jew hated and discriminated becomes breaking news. Not too long ago Hollywood superstar Mel Gibson declared on public television that “Jews are responsible for all the war in the world” while under the influence. This turned in to the most popular news story for days, and Mel Gibson was forced to make numerous public apologies and undergo a series of rehabilitation and corrective programs to wash away his anti Semitic remarks along with his “drinking problem”.

Now if Mel said this about Arabs, do you think anyone would care? There is definitely something wrong here for the media again, slants reality and blows things out of proportion.

Why do Arabs hate Jews and Jews hate Arabs? Aren’t they both sons of Sam? Aren’t they ultimately from the same bloodline, aren’t they cousins? Well Arabs have many reasons to hate Jews, but they do not hate Jews, they hate “Zionists” the people with the imperial ambition to command and conquer, not the people who practice the religion. One should never stereotype and attack a religion, for there are thousands of innocent civilians practicing this religion that have nothing to do with war.

So why do Arabs hate “Zionists”? They hate them because three years after ww2 when Israel was created as the memories of slaughtered Jews were still fresh. They hate them because the U.S. is backing them and supporting them continually throughout history, especially now with the Middle East Crisis, and back in history when the soviets formed a close alliance with Arab nations. They hate them for the obvious: for the killing thousands of civilians throughout the Muslim nation.

CNN broadcasted poll results last week regarding U.S. sympathies to Arab nations when compared to Israel. The poll found that the U.S. supports Israel 54% and Arab nation’s altogether 11% of the time, leaving the category “others” with 35%. Why does the U.S. support Israel to this extent? Is it because it sees similarities with Israel and itself, as a democracy with free speech, when compared to neighboring Muslim nations who have just started to live in a democracy?

Or is it because of the political and financial influence of American Jews, and their vote significance in many states? Another exceptional man supports Hezbollah’s standing up for the Muslim Nation against Israel and his ambitions of war and revolution, as he too, tries to set things straight through the power of the spoken word.

British Member of Parliament, George Galloway explained in an interview on Sky News that it’s not Hezbollah that’s going to war with Israel, its Israel going to war with Lebanon. And that is what has been happening for the past twenty four years. He explained that Israel was forced out of only part of Lebanon in 2000, and that during the eighteen years of the official Israeli occupation of south Lebanon, thousands of Lebanese were kidnapped and continue to be kidnapped, tortured, and slaughtered.

He explains that Israel is the terrorist organization, and that is what millions of people acknowledge and that the western media is slanting reality completely. He then accuses the Interviewer on her claim that she cares about the violence in the Middle East Crisis, saying that she only cares about Israeli blood and not Arab blood. He rectifies his point when he asks her to name one Palestinian family that was killed in the war.

She was unable to name one Palestinian family, but able to name every single Israeli one that was killed.

It is the responsibility of any Arab to fight for their rights, to fight for equality, for justice, for freedom, just as the blacks, women, Jews, and homosexuals did in the past and continue to do today to a lesser extent towards discrimination and false labeling and stereotyping.

Whatever is in store for the future is anyone’s game. One can only do so much and then pray for the rest to be done. It is very difficult to have world peace for one country’s peace is another country’s war; one countries expansion is another country’s destruction. Never the less we must try and pray that humanity comes to its senses and takes some of the perpetual imperial ego in the Middle East crisis out before ww3 destroys us all. World peace is possible; we just have to work together as one human polity and pretend there are no economics, politics, and borders. To all you victims of this world: my heart is your stone.
